Artists of the Mid-Atlantic / 20th c.
It is perhaps expected that several artists represented at Saint Vincent lived and worked within the surrounding area. These works further root Saint Vincent within the American Mid-Atlantic and specifically among the woodlands of Appalachia. Many enact the changing styles and methods of working developed by artists over the past 100 years, choosing to depict scenes of social consciousness, regional landscapes and the presence of communities formed by industry. Artists whose work contributes to the permanent collection offer poignant insight into the realities of daily life for the inhabitants of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth and the wider region.
